Colloquium reader...

My favorite reading from the Colloquium Reader would be David Orr's selection. I find the concept of biophillia and biophobia very interesting, and I did not know biophillia existed until reading this reading early in the semester. I find this one to be the most relevant to my life because I am slowly moving towards a comfort of biophillia. Because of this course its objectives and work I have grown to love aspects of nature that I would have never noticed otherwise. My favorite quote from the passage is "Is biophobia a problem as, say, misanthropy or sociopathy, or is it merely a personal preference; one plausible view of nature among many?" I like this quote because it describes how I used to think, that not enjoying nature wasn't a problem it was my choice, and I was allowed to make choice. But if everyone does not begin to enjoy nature and feel at peace with it, we will never live on a truly eco-friendly earth. If I had to choose a reading from another class I would choose one from my marketing class. This relates to our colloquium class because nature is something that has to be shared with others gently, and smartly. If it is forced upon people it will not be perceived the way you want it to, and marketing would help this because marketing is all about how to "sell" a certain product or service based on how you want the audience to perceive it.
